Future Provision of Public Conveniences within the Borough PDF 218 KB Report of the Corporate Asset Manager Additional documents: Minutes: The Committee gave consideration to the report and appendices (as set out at pages 4 - 9 of the reports pack) which asked it to make an informed decision as to whether public conveniences within the Borough should be permanently closed or remain open.
Councillor K J Loydall JP requested that it be specifically minuted that Members were being asked to make a decision regarding the future provision of public conveniences in order to realise necessary cost savings as a result of the challenging austerity climate affecting all local authorities bought about by the current Conservative government.
It was moved by the Chair, seconded by Councillor L A Bentley and
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT:
(i) All public conveniences within the Borough, other than the public conveniences at Peace Memorial Park in Wigston, be closed permanently from 1 April 2020; (ii) That future infrastructure improvements to the public conveniences at Peace Memorial Park in Wigston and the toilets within Uplands Park Pavilion in Oadby be added to the current list of Section 106 funded projects; and (iii) Officers continue to pursue a Community Toilet Scheme (CTS) with a further report to be bought back to a subsequent meeting of the Committee, provisionally scheduled for 24 November 2020, regarding the CTS’ progress and with particular reference to any potential arrangement(s) with Age UK on Paddock Street in Wigston. |

Footpath at Tendring Drive, Wigston Update (January 2020) PDF 190 KB Report of the Head of Law & Democracy / Monitoring Officer Minutes: The Committee gave consideration to the report (as set out at pages 10 - 12 of the reports pack) which asked it to provide Officers with direction as to how it wished to proceed with the proposed transfer of the footpath at Tendring Drive in Wigston.
It was moved by Councillor Mrs L M Broadley, seconded by Councillor F S Broadley and
UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT:
(i) The contents of the report be noted; and (ii) The matter of the proposed transfer of the footpath at Tendring Drive in Wigston not be pursued any further.
Members requested that clarification be sought on the position regarding the existing permissive path providing entry to Brocks Hill Country Park in Oadby in terms of ongoing access/egress and liability and the appropriate action be taken accordingly. |
